Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the various ways head and neck cancer patients can acquire trismus.
- Define normal (WFL), mild, moderate, and severe trismus in terms of maximal jaw opening measurement.
- Select appropriate assessments for patients who are suspected of having trismus with standardized assessment tools.
- Determine appropriate active and passive jaw mobility therapy tools for trismus intervention based on the patient’s individual needs.
- Implement exercise science-based techniques and counseling strategies to increased patient motivation, independence, and progress.
