Course Description:

This webinar provides a comprehensive overview of knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs related to providing oral health care for dependent and resistant patients. A review of the current literature will be provided, along with tips and tricks that can assist caregivers in the prevention, identification, and treatment of disease and oral health problems in order to aid eating/drinking for people living with oropharyngeal dysphagia.

  • Describe current oral health recommendations and practices for care-resistant and -dependent patients.
  • List potential  barriers to oral health and hygiene in this patient population.
  • Summarize techniques and facilitators to improve implementation of oral health practices.

    Brittney Ciszek

    Dr. Brittney Ciszek believes that the field of dentistry requires an eye for artistry and a passion for science and discovery. She lives out this philosophy as Clinical Director and Institute Director at the WhiteCap Implant Institute, where she practices evidence-based dentistry and utilizes the latest technology to create and maintain happy, healthy smiles for her patients. Dr. Ciszek completed her DDS as well as her PhD in Oral Biology at the University of North Carolina. She then moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to complete a General Practice Residency at the University of Utah. She found a passion for dental surgery and implantology and was introduced to the WhiteCap family. Dr. Ciszek has performed hundreds of implant surgeries and advanced bone grafting procedures since joining the WhiteCap team in 2021. She also lectures for the institute both locally and across the nation, teaching the latest techniques and protocols related to implantology and oral health practices. As a proud Canadian, originally from Ontario, Dr. Ciszek enjoys all things outdoors and spends her free time running, hiking, camping, skiing, and exploring beautiful Utah!
