This webinar will review the evidence-based anatomical and physiological changes that impact verbal communication and swallowing in the tracheostomized patient. An overview of timing and appropriate steps to complete speech and swallowing evaluation for this population is provided.  The role of a Trach Team in facilitating the management of tracheostomized patients including when and how decannulation can be achieved will be discussed.

About the Instructor

Terry Rossabi, PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-S

Terry completed her PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a concentration in Swallowing at Northwestern University in 2020. She received her Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology at Columbia University, Teachers College In NYC. Terry has practiced as a Speech Pathologist for over 30 years primarily in acute care settings and has been performing FEES since 2005. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the MUSC in the Masters of Speech Pathology Program. She enjoys continuing to be involved in clinical diagnostics in her role at CSP. Terry enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with family.
